Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Force Energy, a vital force that permeates all living things. It is pronounced Ray (the sun’s rays) and Key (like door key) Raykey. Reiki is also referred to as the Usui System of Natural Healing. It is an energy technique that balances, harmonizes, and restores our energy systems by channeling the energy through the centers in the palms of the hands.
Reiki is not a religion, a cult, a sect, or an organisation, a form of physic healing, of mind control, wishful thinking, or hypnosis.
The hands are placed gently and passively in different positions over or on the body, usually beginning at the head and working towards the feet. The Reiki is channeled through the therapists’ palms. Psychologically an hour’s treatment of Reiki is equivalent to 4 hours of sleep, this experience alone makes Reiki a highly effective stress reliever.
Sometimes you may feel a coldness, pulse of energy, or a rush of energy through the body, but usually, you will feel a pleasant warming heat on the area that is being treated. This deeply warming relaxation enables energy blockages within the body to be released. Sometimes people fall asleep, such is the relaxation felt in the body and others feel nothing at all during the treatment, but this does not mean that it has not worked.
